The thing about "the Moral Majority" is that the term is used to describe a set of attitudes that are neither moral nor held by a majority. Just as "Christian Right" seesm to be used to refer to people with attitudes that are neither Christian nor right.

And the same goes for using the term "fundamentalist" for people who seem hellbent on ignoring the fundamental tenets of the religion which they seem to use as if it was a weapon.
