The 1970's band who had the hit in the UK were Smokie, got to no. 5 in December 1976. They had about 10 hits between 1975 and 1980, lead singer was a chap with long silver hair, very striking.
Sang it on last Saturday night in a marquee here in our field - 170-plus people including quite a few Dutch - the 'Who the f*** is Alice' version is very well known in Holland. I learnt that version from an English friend Tim who lives in Alsace, he learnt it from a Dutch friend...
Just had a great week, lots of music right here, sessions going throughout the day, actually I think we did Alice every evening... and this was a 2cv (small French car) meeting!
