I was passing thru the Transit Centre Brisbane the other day & found these two free backpacking accommodation guide books. Where else you will get them I don't know, but they do have web sites.

I also noticed some signs up in the Transit Centre for accommodation, the cheapest one I saw was $50 a night, which would be too rich for me. Especially since they seemed to be advertising expensive places such as restaurants and the Casino - surely strange places for real backpackers to want to visit.
