My cousin Dale, who lives near the Northwest Arm, sent me this link of someone's pictures of the damage around Halifax. On Thursday they were still without power at home, but back to usual at the office.

Hurricane Juan

The schooner Larinda was sunk at wharfside. Her owner says that the Navy frigate which was next to her (shown in one of the waterfront jpegs) banged into her while untended. (I've also heard that there were just two sailors tending the lines on the frigate, and they were having some trouble).

The state of emergency has been lifted this morning.
Judging from the number and size of trees that took down lines, I think they did an amazing job of getting the power back up for most of the city within the week. About 10,000 homes in NS are still without power.

Stay tuned for Hurricane Kate...
