Linda and I are in total agreement with you John. There have been several occasions when the session organiser has decreed that it has finished and we've carried it on and had a great time. One organiser (no names - he's a mudcatter) did say that the reason for ending on time was so that the session didn't keep people away from other festival events. There is also the fact that some publicans (Broadstairs, Rochester etc) are afraid that having a folk session going on too long will scare away their regular customers and don't want to have to turn off the juke box or TV for more than a few hours.
On Saturday, I noticed plenty of "regular customers" who were obviously enjoying our all day session, and the landlord didn't seem to have any complaints. I have to admit that we were lucky to have the number, quality and diversity of performers to enable us to keep such a great session going so long.
Last year's session during Pete and Val Hicks' locum tenens at "The Fen Bell" was a pretty good one - lets see what we can manage there on (I thinks it's) the 9th November.
