4. Favorite authors/ type of book? Contemporary fiction: Ann LaMott (have most of hers), Richard Russo, Michael Malone, Barbara Kingsolver; also informal, personal books on writing. No biographies or science fiction.

5. what books have you really been wanting? Ann LaMott's "Joe Jones"...long out of print and just reissued in paperback, Bill Bryson's latest (A Short History of Nearly Everything), or any of his books except In a Sunburned Country and Notes from a Small Island (I have those).      

6. what type of music do you like? Wide-ranging but picky. Just about any kind of purely acoustic guitar, classical guitar, blues, baroque chamber music. Folk, of course, and trad jazz, but again, picky.      

7. what cds have you really been wanting? Hmmm...would like to try a Way Backs album, also Sonny Rollins' Sax Collosus, Leona Boyd's The Spanish Album, Fred Hersch Trio, At the Close of the Day.

A note on books and CD's. Paperback and used books preferred, used CD's OK, in fact, a read or listen, and reaction to either, would be a nice part of the gift, as would a list of Santa's favorite books and music.

10. do you collect anything? I'm out of room.

11. what are some of your other hobbies?   Folksinging, gardening, dog wrangling

12. do you prefer gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry?   I've fussy pierced ears, so need silver or gold earwires, but aside from that silver. Like hoop/dangly earrings, and bangles.   

13. please include anything else you feel is important that would help your secret santa know what you would like. Organic, handmade, natural.   

Negative hints: Not into cute or food or anything that takes up much wall or tabletop space...I'm maxed out.

I'm not big on material goods, so any little thing that my SS would covet or find interesting, I would probably like as well.
