I was an English major and delight in regularly massacring proper grammar rules just out of meanness. But it's true what Amos said - lack of subject/verb agreement was very common in the 19th century in informal writings and conversation. It was regarded as Not Right, but people did it anyway. I don't have any problem at all with slang or dialects in informal settings.

What, me, an Asshole? Wow. A new honor. I don't think I've ever been called that before. Leastways not to my face... ;-)
