I knew there would be someone who assumed without further thought or knowledge that a gender neutral language should by default mean men.

I liked what I saw much more than the last couple of times I have watched our men playing.

Women's football in Germany still has not the standing of men's football. I only could listen in the radio to the final and they interrupted for the news when the extra time had just started. They wouldn't dare to do that in a men's final. At least, for the first time there will be a confetti parade for a women's team coming home. And, also for the first time, the president of the German football associations has skipped watching a men's game (against Turkey) and has watched the women's final instead.
