Thread Name: BS: what are your favourite movies?
Subject: RE: BS: what are your favourite movies?
They've closed the list Rick Fielding started requesting "film" recommnedations, but I need to thank the so many of you there who recommended Babette's Feast, also recommended by boromirh above. It was extraordinary, a delight, and I wouldn't have had it without you - you know who you are. Yes, it was like Chocolat or at least that's what one expects, but with so much more subtlety, compassion and tact. Instead of the puritans (boo) being taught by the sensualist (yay), it was so much more, ending with the stars coming closer that night. The minister's inane pronouncements turned out to be profound; the caricatured French romancer turned out to be a sincere seeker and admirer of fine artists. I've waited quite a while for a movie like that.
