The film "In Which we Serve" includes a bit where the ship is picking up troops during the Dunkirk evacuation. Cups of hot Bovril are being handed out. One of the recipients remarks on how good the Bovril tastes and is told that it's because there's a drop of sherry in it. Since then hot Bovril with sherry has been a favourite of mine - after all it's quite usual to serve a beef consomme with the stuff.
