Thread Name: Lyr Add: Walton Street Fair (Jo Gaggs)
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: WALTON STREET FAIR
Jo(e)! I know that song! Jo Gaggs is a regular at the Sun in Beverley and I think it is a relatively recent composition. I have heard her sing it for the last year or so and its in a fast waltz time. I could sing the tune but its best if Jo puts it up somehow herself, how do we do that Joe (Offer)? Joe is a fiddle player and singer and usually is acompanied on Guitar by partner Graham. Its such a lovely song for those who know Hull Fair and so "unusual" to hear a song about one of Hulls most outstanding events, sung in Jo`s southern accent!

The one song I know of about Hulls famous "conveniances" is "Gloria Victoria", written by Chris Roe and Ian Clarke from the album "Songs of Humberside" recorded in the late 1960`s. All I can remember is the chorus:-

Gloria Victoria
Gloria Victoria
She`s not amused.......
She`s been abused.......
She overlooks the toilet!

There is another thread about songs from the album started by Bill Sables several months ago, he was looking for the other famous song from it about the Humber Bridge. It was called "Will they ever Bridge the Humber". I think a few of the lyrics from the album were posted on that thread. Joe, you refered to the lyrics of Gloria Victoria in that thread here I think?
