Thread Name: Singing in Dublin??? 2003
Subject: RE: SINGING IN DUBLIN???
I don't know if it still happens but 13 years ago, Manitas and I went to Dublin (en route to Lisdoonvarna for honeymoon - don't ask!), and spent most of Sunday in the Brazen Head, Dublins' oldest pub (allegedly). We went in for a quick pint before lunch, just after 12.30pm, and didn't come out until 7.00pm. Whilst we were there, the singing and playing didn't stop for longer than it takes to top up the Guinness. They only stopped at 7.00 so that they could move next door to the folk club!
The pub itself closed and opened twice without anyone noticing - except at 5.50pm when the landlord started pouring Guinness', til he had them lined 10 across and 4 deep along the bar. At 6.01 the doors crashed open, a whole group of men came in, slapped their money on the bar and the Guinness went down the throat. By 6.08 the whole lot was gone.
