Bobert, about the time my daughter started puberty it seemed like she suddenly lost the ability to focus on anything that didn't particularly interest her. I had to repeat and repeat whatever I was saying. It got to the point I would say, OK! I'm going to talk now! Otherwise I would go through some longwinded spiel ending with a question- and she'd say, Huh? Warning her I was going to talk made her cue in.
