G'day Marion,
I can at least pursue some history of such a group, if it was associated with the old St James Anglican in King St, Sydney. One of the former members of the Bush Music Club became a Deaconess at St James ... and my co-editor on the BMC's Mulga Wire, Colin Fong, has maintained contact with her.
She may well be able to steer me to the right historian / archivist to find if such a sponsorship originated there.
