I am heartsick. In losing Bruce Olson I have lost a long-time friend and we all have lost a brilliant and generous scholar.My first memory of him, at some FSGW event,was his coming up to me to discuss the origins of a ballad I had just sung. A few days later, an overstuffed envelope showed up in my mail-more information he had dug out for me. His presence, his enthusiasm, and his knowledge will be sorely missed.
