The only guideline that makes any sense to me when voting, is vote with your head, not by party line (although most of the time, I vote Democrat.) Unfortunately, with a two party system, it seems to be a waste to vote for the best candidate, if they aren't Republican or Democrat. You can end up taking votes away from the more palatable of the two major party candidates. It's a hard dilemma. I guess it speaks well to the absurdity of the whole business that the only third party candidate who made a significant impact at the polls was Ross Perot.

Is dis place weird, or wot?

Sometimes I think that politics is the most over-rated parlor game in town.
