Pardon my heresy, but I didn't really like the original movie, at least not the story line. Manuel didn't die in the book, and Harvey was older--old enough to be a competent fisherman, not a cute little ten-year-old. The schooners were great, but I got distracted by the deviation from the book, which is a wonderful short masterpiece.
And no, I didn't see the remake. Sounds like I shouldn't bother.
