Well said Alanabit: I'm sure you're speaking for a lot of us. I'm also a republican but I confine my criticism to the institution rather than individuals (plenty republicans are aalso less than perfect). The Queen, for example, seems to be a genuinely decent individual who has "served" Britain dutifully for so long. I'm sure she would rather have been an "ordinary" person, given the experiences she had had.
