I think he lives round your way, Jeanie. Can't remember how I remember, but I think he lives at Hatfield Broad Oak, in beloved Essex.

I saw him at Faversham folk club in 1984, and I found his performance captivating. I watched most of his TV shows on the strength of that gig, and nothing on the telly came close to the initmacy of that small club. I was particularly struck by the debt of gratitude that he owed to the folk club circuit, and his humility in paying tribute.
