'ear, 'ear. It's my understanding that if you wake a Newfie up at three o'clock in the morning, he talks just like a Canadian! The 'accent' and lingo is catching. I was in Burin for a few weeks visiting some friends many years ago. Within two days I was saying things like "How bes you?" or "I bes good, my son." (The bes is pronounced bees.) But, no doubt the BBC will hold out for its version of the language.
