I just read your above post. I think I was given either calcium or magnesium. As best I remember, this is the same as "milk fever" in dairy cows -- I've watched Hubby treat hundreds. It's one of the miracle "shows." A cow is down and taking her last breath - the vet puts calcium in the veins IV - and then she jumps up and runs around. I'm sure James Herriot did quite a few. It makes for good TV shows. It's really quite complex, and I'm sure the docs are current on the latest.
