I'd an interesting call two nights ago from a student dialling round people who had been to his college, to contribute to an alumni fund. I had agreed to make a donation last year, but never quite got around to it. So when I got the call this year I agreed as soon as a heard what it was ... and completely threw the poor lad. It didn't fit his script at all. "Don't you want to talk about your experience of the University?" "No, thanks, I'll just go ahead." "Don't you want to hear how you can get tax relief on the contribution?" "No, not really. Just send the forms." "You're quite sure I can't tell you anything about it?" "No."
