Hallo. My computer crashed yesterday and I have, with the help of various discs from friends, succeeded in installing Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Word. The problem is that I have several extremely important creative projects saved to floppy in the Works format (file abbreviation .wps in some cases, Works files in others --Works was able to open all of them) that I cannot open in Word. Every time I try to open them, they come up as a whole lot of computer script. I tried to retrieve information from one of them using the "recover info from any file" option, but it made some repairs to it (said there were errors in the file) and in doing so lost about 50 pages. I didn't save the changes made to it. Would it be possible to open these discs if I could somehow reinstall Works, and would the system have permanently lost the pages that didn't appear when I opened the document in Word? I would appreciate some help with this, as a part-time job, a libretto, and a novel are all at stake.
