Well, you learn something new every day. Sure enough, hidden away in the Word 97 help files is a note to the effect that there are import filters for Works versions 3 and 4. Evidently I didn't bother installing them. Presumably Word XP will have filters for more recent versions, which no doubt you can find on the installation disk. Sounds like you're saved again.

Seriously, though, you probably should abandon MSWorks in the future.
