   My first intro to any version of this song was through an old friend who was with the "Rats" across the North African Desert from El Alamein to Tripoli, and up thro' Italy to the river Po. Part of his rendition [can't recall any more, unfortunately--] --"...They stand in the corners, they sing and they shout, they talk about things they know f---all about, where are the airmen when Gerry's about?--Boozin, bloody well boozin!!"
