HI, Jerry and Ruth! I've heard the term "davenport" used on not too rare occasions in our family. My grandmothers, my own parents, and some other relatives have used it at odd times. When I've used it, most of the people seemed to know what I was speaking of. I guess context is a clue. "Come over here and sit on this davenport with me."
