Thread Name: New Record: Spain In My Heart
Subject: New Record: Spain In My Heart
Fine new record from Appleseed (APR CD 1074), Spain in My Heart: Songs of the Spanish Civil War, covering all the old songs, ranging from Vive La Quince Brigada to Si Me Quieres Escribir. Artists include Pete Seeger (talking about the original recordings), Quetzal, Shay Black, Michele Greene.

One stupid thing: why not include the lyrics and translations? Grrr...
They could at least link to The Socialist Songbook or Mudcat. As in....

SI ME QUIEBES ESCRIBIR

   Si me quieres escribir
   Ya sabes mi paradero;
   (Repeat all verses twice)

   En el frente de Gandesa
   Primera, linea de fuego.

   Si tu quieres comer bien
   Barato y de buena forma,

   En el frente de Gandesa
   AllĂ tienen una fonda.

En la entrada de la fonda
   Hay un moro Mojame.

   Que te dice: "Pasa, pasa,
   Que quieres para comer?"

   El primer plato que dan
   Son granadas rompedoras;

   El segundo de metralla
   Para recordar memorias.

   Si me quieres escribir
   Ya sabes mi paradero.

If you want to write to me
You know where you can always find
    me. (Repeat all verses twice)

On the broad front of Gandesa
The front line of every battle.

If you want to eat your fill,
Good food and not too many pesos,

On that broad front of Gandesa
Stands an inn where you are welcome.

At the entrance of this inn there
Stands a Moor by name Mohammed.

Who warmly greets you: Hurry, hurry,
Rare and spicy food awaits you.

The first dish they serve you
Is hot grenades in quick succession.

Followed by a burst of shrapnel,
Makes a dish you'll all remember.

If you want to write to me
You know where you can always find me
