Maybe it's not always a case of misogyny. All good literature and music comes from conflict -- if the protagonist is male and love/lust/cohabitation is the theme, the antagonist is bound to be female. The hatred/vengeful feelings toward A woman don't necessarily translate to hatred OF women generally.

On the other hand, maybe it's just that we men are insecure about our inferiority.
