Schwartz Pieter always accompanied St. Nicholas to my grandparents house when I was small. He wasn't black or anything, that was simply the name we knew him by (and he, like Nick, looked a LOT like my uncles). Peter, or Black Peter (and NEVER "Pete"), always carried switches for bad little children. They were never used; we always received candies and small toys.
