Some Weight Lifting food supplements can contain all sorts of unstated things - especially if sold over the web - and may include impurities which can be nasty, as well as vetinary grade products. Can also contain things that cause athletes to fail drug tests. take care with such products - and I don't think they are all that cheap anyway.

I have a friend (under 40) who by means of pigheaded denial and basic stupidity managed to push himslef into near death from type one diabetes - the ER said that he probably was only a few hours from death when he finally consented to go to hospital - he almost could not walk. His father did the same thing years before and went blind as well, - as I said stupidity and denial.

He is now trying to put on weight with milk based mixtures - including things such as added extra powdreed milk, AktaVite etc.

Some of the recepies above look interesting enough even for me - and I'm in no need of putting on weight at the moment... :-)

If you like the taste of honey, it is pure (sugar type) calories which may be digested easier for some people. Add it to drinks.

You can get ginger in the japanese pickled style (it comes in a sugar based one as well as a "diabetic" form) as well as the normal crystallised form. I have a friend who needs to take certain medication, and she keeps crystallised ginger around - one or two pieces nibbled help keep the nausea under control in the morning. If you realy like ginger, you may be able to find powdered ginger (used for making ginger biscuits when I was a kid), which can be added to milk shakes.

My father left us 30 years ago - he had leuklemia. Spaw's advice about "small but often" is very good - snacking is how most "normal" people like me got overweight anyhow :-)

And I had difficulties with a spirulina tablet - to much caused me to get very "loose" below - I couldn't take it for more than two or three days in a ro, and only at a fraction of the recommended dose - not all people are the same. It did seem to help otherwise though at the time.

And hang in with your music - even if you don't feel like playing much on any particular day - think about something that has been a big (and mostly pleasurable) part of your life in a favourable state of mind. Endorphins help the healing process. You also may not feel much like laughing, but laughter also produces endorphins.

Take care,
and hang in there!
