B&J: I felt your quake down here in San Diego. (I'm up in a high rise, on rollers.) But I wanted to mention that fifty miles away from the SA fault should make you feel quite safe at least as far as the BIG ONE is concerned. I read about a study in Japan which showed something like 90% of the damage is within three miles of the fault (or something like that - no less than 80% within 5 miles.)

It's your own local faults that are the issue (if that makes you feel any better.)
