There was a time when Casey Stengel or George Steinbrunner or perhaps Erroll Flynn would have won the award of the most admired man in America. They probably wouldn't have made a decent president either. Patton? MacArthur? Although their claims to military insight were earned, not faked, I wouldn't have thought they'd be competent leaders for the nation. I don't think Hillary or George qualify either.
