The Ecologist magazine (www.theecologist.org, though it wasn't finding a server when I tried) had an article by Robert Kennedy Jr about some company - can't remember the name - which he seemed to think had impoverished American pig farmers, and which is now moving into Poland.

According to the article the company buys up the slaughterhouses so the farmers have no choice but one on where to get their pigs slaughtered, then drops the rate of pay, then acquires the farms so the farmers become low-waged workers instead of kulaks or self-employed farm owners.
