Thread Name: Rocks of Bawn - any background info?
Subject: RE: Rocks of Bawn - any background info?
Alison :) I recall many a Galway singer singing the song, and I gathered that 'the rocks of bawn' is a manner of speaking in Galway. There is no place - but may be a 'townland (peculiar Irish admin category) of the name.

The gaelic Scholars make fus bout this - but you may assume - the native singers do! - the name 'bawn' is not the issue. Sing the song.

Galway is a County on the western Irish coast. Also there is a Galway City ( that means a really big town for those in the USA )
