I smile at the general folly and wonder of human existence, and get ready for winter's long stretch which is now just getting started. They really should have Christmas at the end of January, I think. It would break up the season much more effectively that way.
But it was originally a solstice event, and the solstice is on Dec 22nd, so there you have it.
