Pretty much what has been said above...

Sessions can be quite complicated social affairs with thier unwritten rules. Take your time, get to know the people, the type of music they play and try to fit in. Most sessions will be very welcoming to anyone who wants to fit in but you may find yourself with a frosty reception if you don't make that effort - the onus is on you to learn what their session is about.
