I remember seeing him perform at a fly by night coffeehouse in Boston called 'Where It's At' back in the mid 60's. He was solo & so good & I can still recall how fluid his fingers were, like water gluiding over smooth rocks. I'd have to say that Boston is a pretty great folk city now but back then you wouldn't believe how blue it was. I'm amazed when I think of the great blues people that were constantly coming through town. Victoria Speevy(sp?), Otis Spann, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells & Buddy Guy, Big Mama Thornton (man did she have a hate for Elvis over Hounddog), a whole crew of Kings, Brownie & Sonny, John Hurt & all the young up & coming wannabes that got to become the next generation in a long line blues greats.
