Thread Name: Lyr Req: Rhythm of the Rain (from The Cascades)
Subject: RE: WARNING!: POP SONG REQUEST
English exercise: how many ways can you punctuate "I can see clearly now the rain is gone" so it makes sense? How many meanings can it have? I like that song too, so I was amazed to learn it's by Johnny Cash.

For your water-song project, Peter, I hope you're looking into the work of Peter Gabriel. His many songs having to do with water include probably my favorite Genesis song, "Firth of Fifth", and possibly my favorite song of the rock era, "Here Comes the Flood". (And if I knew your e-mail address I'd send this to you personally instead sullying the folk forum by talking about (superb) pop music.)

Of course there are a million songs from the Canadian Maritimes having at least a little to do with water. One odd one is "Ah, the Sea", by the Folk of the Sea (on the same album as "Wry Man", for which I'd like to remind everybody that I requested lyrics). Not what you'd call traditional, but I like it.
