Thread Name: northumbrian monologues CD
Subject: RE: northumbrian monologues CD
There are a few of the older monologues or "recitations" published including "The Cullercoats fish-wife and the Census Man" by Fred Gascoigne and "Je ne Comprend Pas" (unattributed) and many of the music hall songs such as "Oh! Leuk a' the Sowljor" have more patter than song. However, not being a Geordie, I wouldn't attempt to get my tongue around them as they are written in dialect. The Geordie Bible by Andrew Elliot is also an hilarious source
Any problems, consult "Larn Yersel'Geordie" by Scott Dobson
