All the world knows that a Yankee is somebody from the US.

All of the southern US knows that a Yankee is somebody from north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Everybody north of the Mason-Dixon line knows that a Yankee is somebody from New England.

Everybody in New England knows that a Yankee is somebody from New Hampshire.

Everybody in New Hampshire knows that a Yankee is someone who eats pie for breakfast.
