Interesting thing about POSSLQ, the US Internal Revenue Service actually adopted this acronym within the mass of the federal tax code at some point during the seventies. When the (then) fledgling religious right caught wind of this, a mighty shout went up to the heavens, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth. The fear that (gasp) living together (in sin) would destroy the fabric and value of marriage was on every preacher's sermon outline.
Obviously, they were right (or wrong, depending on your perspective), but now the focus is shifting to the related issue of gay "marriage."
