Burns Night

January 25th is the date of Robert Burns birth and I suppose is the official Burns night.
Here in Ayrshire (where The Bard was born) Burns Suppers are held around this date but since the best speakers are in big demand the season can last for a few weeks. I'm not a speaker but attend a number of suppers "just to be sociable" and my last date for a supper this year is 20th February. I've known one Burns supper advertised for 1st March so really any time is a good time to celebrate the life and works of a great poet, or in my case it's a better than normal excuse to have a wee (or not so wee) dram.

"Then let us pray that come it may, as come it will for a' that…
…That man to man the world o'er shall brithers be for a' that."
