I remember a NewScientist article not long back, where researchers were linking high-fructose corn syrup to various problems.   Seems that although it tastes sweet, the body can't digest it properly. Can't remember the details now - I'll post if I find them. I'm sure any websites for groups opposing HFCS would have all the details on this, though.
