Thread Name: Suggestions for a farewell song?
Subject: RE: Suggestions for a farewell song?
My senior year in high school the graduating class was given the task of choosing its "class song," as was the usual custom. The song was to be somewhat contemporary, and express to the school and our community what we viewed of ourselves, life, graduation, etc. Some joker nominated "Dust in the Wind" words and music by Kerry Livgren and performed by Kansas. It was the clear winner. The administration wanted to hold another selection, but that got our dander up and we made sure we kept it just to make a statement. Dreadfully depressing lyrics, but lovely melody. On graduation night it was performed by an instrumental group - I guess the admin. just would not allow it to be sung. It has always been a sentimental favorite of mine, and it a twisted way (the way my mind seems to work) I think it was a pretty good choice.

"Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind."
