Thread Name: Review: Songs of Robert Burns (Eddi Reader)
Subject: RE: Eddie Reader Burns Whatdyathink
I think Eddi is a fantastic singer who can convey great emotional depth, and I really enjoyed most of the concert, including the two or three songs of her own she stuck in. I'm especially fond of Boo Hewerdine's waltzy "Wings On My Heels" -- great music hall feel!

I love her sassy take on "Charlie Is My Darling", and I particularly enjoyed "The Winter It Is Past" and "Of All The Airts". The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the "bye bye baby"s at the end of "Ae Fond Kiss".

Eddi Reader can't be faulted for being the kind of singer she is (sure she's pop, but brilliant), and if she feels the need to take on Rabbie, who are we to tell her she can't? I look forward to her next album.

Cheers,
Michael
