Thread Name: Suggestions for a farewell song?
Subject: RE: Suggestions for a farewell song?
I just came across a song in the most recent Folk Nik, the newsletter of the San Francisco Folk Music Club. Going Home by Jim James. It was written when he was with the Southport Folk Club in Both, U.K. in 1984. It is on Windjammer Days CD, www.mainewindjammercruises.com

In the night sky you can hear the geese cry
Whe it's time for the going home song
The gull on the shore's sailing homeward once more
For it's time for the going home song

Chorus:
Travellers the wide world over
May your star follow you through the night
With the storm clouds at bay
An the end of the day
Then it's time for the going home
Time we were getting home
Time for the going home song

The fox on the dunes looking out for the moon
For it's time for the going home song
The shepherd and dogs wend their way with their flocks
When it's time for the going home song

Chorus

There'll be peace once again over valley and glen
When it's time for the going home song
When the mist from the sea spins its own mystery
Then it's time for the going home song

Chorus
