A retired U.S. Marine sang this to me
back in highschool, circa 1960. Claimed
this was THE song of the Marines, forget
the "Marines Hymn". And it predates
Cool Hand Luke by 20 years. GREAT movie,
by the way. There was also a verse that
ended, "Goin' ninety, crazy as can be,
I got the whole damn holy family, riding
on the dashboard of my car."
