A way of life? Doesn't that imply that what is 'past' is automatically 'better'? I just don't see how that is the case... I mean, if these M&P stores were better, then wouldn't they have survived in sorta the economic equivalent to 'natural selection'?

When I hear people talking about 'saving the downtown' core around here, their reason seems to be, at least to me, "Because it's always been there"... but it hasn't 'always' been there... Someone a long time ago changed what it was then into what it used to be not too long ago... and not too long after that changed into what it is now...

Seems to me that 'ways of life' are always coming into being, existing for a while and then changing into something else... and that abides for a while and then changes too... and so on... and so on...

So, what am I not understanding about 'the other side'?
