No that thread isn't about me. Actually I own three Gibsons and zero Martins, so I must be sane.

I have seen many downtowns forced to re-invent themselves successfully because of the Wal-Mart on the outstkirts. I have also seen other chain stores as well as restaurants and hotels come in around the Wal-Mart to become the new shopping center of town, with new jobs and a boost to the local economy. One particular favorite town I know in southwest Michigan started with a Wal-Mart off the Interstate, then came 2 restaurants and three motels, a business park, and then a community college. The downtown rediscovered it's history and is thriving, also.

Someone here said the problem some people have with Wal-Mart are the ones who have a problem with big business in general. Please stop whining. Wal-Mart is here to stay. Go spend your money elsewhere if you want to. I'll pay $2.50 for a box of cereal. You can pay $3.75 if you want to, that's your problem, not mine.
