Martin, you're nuts to pay $2.50 to Walmart for that cereal. We get a comparable quality cereal, same size box but without Post or Kellogg on it, anywhere from 99 cents to $1.50 at our little Save-A-Lot grocery and at a couple of "Grocey Outlet" stores in the area. The trick for this grocery store is that it carries the staples and doesn't have specialized stuff sitting on the shelves until it expires. Lots of good dry goods and canned goods, but not every flavor under the sun. They have specials on things when they can get them for less, and you learn to shop according to season. We buy the staples here, and go to the big name grocery stores for those flavors or more exotic items not available at our store. Works out just fine. I do try to take advantage of some of the big store giveaways--over Thanksgiving I totalled enough things on my shopping list to score a free turkey at the end of my shopping. My little store will never be running a special like that.

One of my best friends had a horrible experience working for Walmart. They reward competence with overwork. She had to leave because her health was suffering from the long hours. And the pay sucks. Barely over minimum wage.
